Key Aims

All of the Star workshops with young people takes place with the following 4 aims:

• To raise awareness of the issues surrounding rape and sexual abuse
• To assist young people in developing skills around negotiating respect and consent within relationships
• To provide information to young people about Southampton Rape Crisis' counselling Service for young men and young women as well as other relevant information, advice and support services
• To develop targeted work with young people identified as being particularly vulnerable

When young people participate in Star sessions, we hope that:

• Young people will have raised awareness of issues surrounding sexual assault, abuse in relationships, and other relationship matters, including teenage pregnancy.
• Young people will have enhanced skills to negotiate respect, consent and mutuality in all their relationships and to help protect themselves against abusive experiences
• Young people will have improved knowledge about appropriate services and support
